The cost of a skip hire is dependent on the size of the skip, the waste you intend to put it and your distance from the Operating Centre. All prices shown on our website are from prices and should be used as a guide only. A firm price can be provided through the online quote and booking system or over the phone or email once we have all the required details.
Simply visit our webpage https://www.theskipcompany.co.uk/book-online.html, type in your postcode and email addresses and get a quote or book your skip hire. You can also Webchat to us during office hours, telephone 0333 444 9978 or email info@theskipcompany.co.uk
We DO NOT ACCEPT CASH. Payment can be made securely online, by card over the phone or BACS payment. Payment must be received prior to delivery without payment we cannot secure your booking.
This depends on the time of day that you book the skip hire. As a general rule if you book before midday you can expect it to be delivered the next day. However please note the delivery schedules are pre-booked in advance and availability can be limited during periods when demand is high. It is always best not to leave it until the last minute to book!
A standard skip hire is usually between 3-5 days. However the length of hire can vary between suppliers and areas from 7 days up to 28 days. Tell us how long you need it and we will be able to advise you the rental period for your area.
Depending on your location, our supply partners operate between 7:00am and 19:00pm Monday to Friday and up to 16:00 on Saturday. Whilst we request that all specified timings are adhered to due to the nature of the business these are not guaranteed. The schedules are routed to be efficient so that they maximise deliveries/collections and minimise mileage which helps us to keep the costs down.
Providing there is safe clear access you DO NOT NEED to be there for delivery or collection. We ask that you provide as much information as possible about access and where you would like the skip placed this helps the driver.
Your skip can be placed on your property providing there is access or on the road. However we need a skip license from the local authority to place the skip on the road (public highway) or any other council owned/maintained property.
Your drive or skip location needs to be 2.75 metres wide (9 ft) bear in mind that the weight of a skip lorry is at least 7.5 tonnes so the ground needs to be durable enough to endure that sort of pressure. If your dedicated area is not feasible then the skip may need to be put on the road which will require a skip license Alternatively, we can offer a "wait & load" service which would suit built up and urban areas where access can be limited.
Yes the skip lorry can lift the skip over walls, fences or hedges however this depends on the specification of the vehicle. Usual height is 2-3ft please let us know height of wall prior to delivery. At your request we can do this but cannot accept any liability for damage to your property.
Yes a skip can be placed on the road but we need to obtain a skip license from the local authority before we can do this. The cost of a license is an additional cost to the skip hire. The cost, duration of license, lead time to obtain and who must apply (us or you) varies between local authorities. Provide us with all the information and we will advise you what needs to be done. As for lights and coning and any other special instructions again this can vary between local authorities and you will be advised who is responsible for this at the time of booking.
If the skip is to go on the road or any local authority land then a skip license must be obtained without it we will not deliver. We can offer a Wait & Load or Van Clearance service as alternatives.
If the skip is overloaded we will not collect it and you may be charged a wasted journey to cover our lost operational costs. The skip MUST BE A SAFE LEVEL LOAD with all the waste contained within the skip and not above the sides.
Once the skip is delivered then you become responsible for the skip and its contents up until it is collected. Even when it is tipped if we find restricted items then you are responsible for any further costs.
When ordering a skip you need to ensure that you give us a much information as possible about what type of waste is going into the skip. As the producer of the waste it is your responsibility to ensure that the waste is described accurately. Different waste streams have different costs, disposal sites and hazards. We can provide skips specifically for general waste, soil, rubble, hard-core and recyclable materials such as paper & cardboard. If you are putting SOIL, RUBBLE, HARDCORE or CLAY into the skip let us know as the size is restricted for these materials.
Due to waste legislation and disposal methods some items and materials are not classified as general waste. These may incur additional charges or must be disposed of separately. Putting such items in your skip could result in your skip not being removed and you incurring additional charges and in certain circumstances, could even lead to you being criminally prosecuted.
Below is a list of the common items that you need to tell us about if you wish to dispose of them.
Please note this is just a guide. If you are unsure about any of the waste you intend to dispose of let us know immediately.
Once you have finished simply visit the web site https://www.theskipcompany.co.uk/skip-collection.html input all your details and the collection will be booked. We will endeavour to collect as quickly as we can but during peak periods this may take up to 5 working days.
To ensure that everything goes to plan and that you incur no extra charges please note the following requirements:
Safe clear access is required at all times until the skip is collected.
The skip MUST be a safe level load. All waste must be contained within the skip and not higher than the sides of the skip.
Waste should be as described by you at point of sale – It should not include items on our exclusion list or classed as hazardous waste.
The waste is taken to a licensed disposal facility where it is sorted & processed to maximise recycling and minimise the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Yes we can supply various waste reports and the appropriate paperwork. However if you require a report we need to know before the project starts.
